Guides for formulators working with peptide raw materials

Four long-form guides, each reviewed on the date in the review log. They cover the questions that come up between the first sample and the first production batch, and they are not sales pages.

Guide

How formulators verify a peptide raw material before scale-up

A working method for checking a cosmetic peptide raw material: INCI and CAS identity, documents to ask for, manufacturer or reseller, bench tests on 5 g.

Guide

How to read a peptide COA and SDS for cosmetic use

Line by line through a peptide certificate of analysis and a 16-section SDS: HPLC area percent, net peptide, counter-ion, MS identity, and what to check.

Water Solubility and Stability of Cosmetic Peptides: A Bench Guide for Formulators

How cosmetic peptide raw materials dissolve and degrade: solubility factors, a 5 g screen, degradation routes by compound, process controls, a short study.

Research-Grade vs Cosmetic-Grade Peptide Raw Materials: What the Words Actually Mean

What research-grade and cosmetic-grade mean for peptide raw materials: documents, format, use statements, buyer, and what you still owe each market.

How to use these guides

Read the verification guide before you pay for a first sample of any peptide raw material, from any supplier. Read the COA and SDS guide when the documents arrive and you have to file them. Read the solubility and stability guide before you design the first prototype, because solubility decides which phase the peptide goes into and stability decides whether the prototype survives the test. Read the grade guide if you are deciding whether a research-use listing can be used in a cosmetic at all.

Each guide names Pepti's own practice where it is relevant, such as the public batch-record library on the manufacturer site, but the procedures apply to any supplier. Where a guide quotes a published finding, the sentence is marked as a literature note and links to the source.

Frequently asked questions

Are the guides updated?

Each guide carries the date of its last review, and the review log on the repository lists what was checked on that date. Dates on the site come only from that log.

Can I reuse the checklists in my own quality system?

Yes. The checklists are generic procedures and are written to be copied into a raw-material qualification file.

Do the guides give use levels or claims?

No. Use levels are set by the formulator from their own stability and tolerance work, and claims are made by the brand in each market. The guides describe chemistry and documentation.

Who writes them?

They are maintained by Pepti, Guangzhou, the manufacturer of the raw materials listed on this site, and reviewed against the public sources they cite.
